Longleaf Elementary has been named a Participating School by the MAC (Mississippi Arts Commission). We have many professional development opportunities for our teachers to attend. We will be integrating arts in our classroom and throughout the school to allow our students to deepen their knowledge and learning experiences.

Kandinsky Creations

Longleaf 4th and 5th grade EXCEL students created these wonderful works of art inspired by Kandinsky and abstract art! After the students completed a lesson on the Multiple Intelligences, they discovered their own strengths and weaknesses. They used their knowledge of Wassily Kandinsky and abstract art to create these fabulous creations! The kids applied abstract art techniques to depict 3 strengths from their Multiple Intelligence survey.

Self Portraits

Longleaf second grade students used a torn-paper technique to create self portraits! I love how this "All About Me" project puts a focus on how each child is unique and special. No two self portraits are alike! The details these kids used in their artwork are fabulous!
