Longleaf Elementary has been named a Participating School by the MAC (Mississippi Arts Commission). We have many professional development opportunities for our teachers to attend. We will be integrating arts in our classroom and throughout the school to allow our students to deepen their knowledge and learning experiences.

Constitution Day!

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Longleaf third grade students celebrated Constitution Day on September 16th! This is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States and those who have become US citizens. 

Students learned the Star Spangled Banner during music prior to the special day. Students rotated to different stations to learn about the Liberty Bell, The Statute of Liberty, The Preamble, and Why the American Flag is important. They also learned about George Washington. While creating art projects, the students learned the symbolism and importance of each! 

What a wonderful way to integrate the arts while learning about the history of our county! Good job, third grade!
