Longleaf Elementary has been named a Participating School by the MAC (Mississippi Arts Commission). We have many professional development opportunities for our teachers to attend. We will be integrating arts in our classroom and throughout the school to allow our students to deepen their knowledge and learning experiences.

Longleaf Family Arts Night

Longleaf Family Arts Night is a new longleaf tradition! Students and their families had so much fun viewing the student art show, bidding on art pieces at the local artist silent auction, and participating in various arts experiences! It was a fun night for everyone!

Each Longleaf student had a piece of art in the student art show! We have so many talented artists at Longleaf!

Students and families had lots of fun participating in various arts experiences!

The Collage Experience… Students were inspired by Wassily Kandinsky! The kids cut circles in different sizes to create a really cool "Kandinsky Tree."

The Drawing Experience… Students followed guided drawing lessons to create some awesome animals!

The Painting Experience… Students were inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflowers. The kids loved creating designs with flowers!

The Photography Experience… Students loved posing as Mona Lisa and The Scream! They also had fun posing with students from our local children's performance studio, StageStruck!

The Color Experience… The kids mixed two primary colors to make a secondary color! Fun and yummy!

The local artist silent auction was a huge hit! Families had the unique opportunity to view art from our community! AND…the proceeds from the silent auction benefit our arts program!

AND…Our 5th grade show choir, "Limelight" performed for students and families! They were amazing!

Longleaf Family Arts Night was a huge success! I can't wait to do it again next year! Longleaf loves the Arts!
